The Four Five Spiritual Laws Part 12

The fourth point in the five spiritual laws is about actualizing the kingdom ethos in creation. In Luke’s presentation of the Lord’s Prayer, it has to do with forgiving others as the Lord has forgiven us. By implication, it embraces all aspects of the kingdom ethos. In other words, everything we enjoy as followers of Jesus should be shared with the world. The good news begins with the fact our sins are forgiven in Jesus Christ but it doesn’t stop there. Thus we forgive, as we have been forgiven, but we also feed, as we have been fed.
This means every Believer is supposed to bring their own life and arena of activity under the lordship of Jesus Christ. As forgiven followers of Jesus, it is possible for real, tangible change to take place in our lives. In Jesus, we are renewed human beings who are bearers of good news. And good news is meant to be shared, not kept to ourselves. We have a responsibility to live and proclaim the wonderful news of the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven.
Christianity is not about holding on and hoping for the end, it is about transformed lives. Moreover, transformed lives should effect transformation on each piece of creation under their care. Thus, as N T Wright says, “we are called to be artist, musicians, writers, singers, dancers, preachers, teachers, comforters, justice advocates, and peacemakers. God’s rule in and through his kingdom people produces the beauty of new creation in the world that announces: Jesus of Nazareth crucified and raised from the dead, now glorified as king, seated at God’s right hand, and one day returning to fully complete what he began” (The Welcome Announcement Bible Plan, 2026). This is what it means to bring your life and arena of activity under the lordship of Jesus Christ. This is what Paul is talking about when he tells the church in Philippi to work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear, for God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him (Philippians 2:12b-13).
Show the results of your salvation? How do we do that If salvation is just fire insurance? What does that have to do with the way we live?
Well, the Bible clearly presents salvation as comprehensive. Our souls are saved, our lives are transformed, and our life and sphere of activity must reveal that transformation. Believers in the Messiah are known by their fruit. Our lives must reflect the rule and the reign of Jesus the Messiah. In other words, we must walk the walk, not simply talk the talk.
The center point of the five spiritual laws is kingdom ethos. However, unless we have the fourth point of the five spiritual laws, no one would know about the kingdom ethos. The blessed reality we enjoy in Jesus must be proclaimed to the world around us. This is accomplished in word and deed as we preach the Good News and seek to portray the life of a true follower of Jesus the Christ.
